Ikon Pass

Destination Pass, Recreation, Adventure

When the Ikon Pass was introduced in 2018, it was revolutionary. Alterra Mountain Company was offering an all-access pass valid at 32 destinations across North America. Alterra also needed a revolutionary approach to eCommerce.

The summit of digital experience

Our job was to support an eCommerce launch, but it soon became clear that wasn’t a simple task. The Ikon site needed new everything, from a broader audience to point-of-sale functionality. It also needed to be a central hub for Alterra's owned and partner destinations.

We created a site that delivered a shot of adrenaline on the way to the checkout.

A site that supports all users

Most eCommerce sites aspire to be frictionless. We set out to create one that delivered a shot of adrenalin on the way to the checkout. We made sure skiers and boarders knew the Ikon Pass was the most flexible product out there. The site included product pages with full cart functionality, a comparison tool and interactive maps.

An ongoing relationship

When eager riders started receiving their Ikon Passes, we launched a digital campaign. It showcased a series of adventures and road trips that showed what “all-access” means. We continue to work with Alterra to refine the site. As for the pass, it’s still setting industry standards and now gives outdoor adventurers access to 44 destinations worldwide.
